This blog & Podcast is dedicated to the memory of two of my closest and dearest who departed this world suddenly. My soul brother Pedro Eurico Antunes, who departed on 17th November 2023 and my soul sister Akosua Nimo-Tieku (Aso), who departed on 13th January 2024.

Life threw us some very sour lemons but somehow blessings continued to abound in our lives and we were always grateful. These two beautiful souls and I shared countless conversations about the paradox of life and how to navigate our lives as professionals who were dedicated to our families.

Pedro and Aso were the ultimate feminists and always encouraged me to write and speak about the various challenges professional women face in trying to achieve the perfect work life balance. We always concluded that there was no such thing as a perfect work life balance and that something precious to us eventually had to give. They both made the ultimate sacrifice.

Each UNAPOLOGETIC blog post and accompanying audio version represents 20-minute musings on issues affecting African women trying to achieve the perfect work life balance. They are largely based on anecdotal references to my own experiences as a mother, a daughter, a sister and friend, while pursuing a career in law and education. Sharing my reflections with my sister friends made me realise that my experiences would resonate with many African women who, like me, have come to accept that women can’t have it all and can only live our lives the best way we can. And that we should be super proud of our efforts and not beat ourselves up about mistakes we make along the way.

So Pedro and Aso, I hope I am able to capture the essence of our conversations and lives together and raise awareness on the issues that we were so passionate about. Here’s to you my darlings. I miss you both so so much! Rest in perfect peace.
